CMC Athlete of the Month: January 2017
Our male Athlete of the Month is Andrew Sukeforth, who was our overall winner at the 2017 Apple Therapy + Sports & Rehab Millennium Mile on New Years Day. Not only did Andrew win the race by a margin of 11 seconds, but he also shattered the 4 minute barrier in a time of 3:54.8!
In the Millennium Running events Amanda Arneil has participated in, her results may not have set any records or even a personal best, but her performance at two events is that of a superhero!
At the 2015 Northeast Delta Dental Shamrock Shuffle, Amanda had just finished the 2-mile race and was enjoying post race festivities at the finish line when a fellow runner next to her collapsed. Immediately, Amanda, who is trained as an Advanced EMT at the Epping Fire Department, went into superhero mode as a first responder. Because of her immediate intervention along with assistance from the medical team on-site and world class care at CMC Hospital’s cardiac department, our fellow runner’s life was saved.
Last month at the 2017 HPM Insurance Snowflake Shuffle at the Copper Door, Amanda was called into action a second time. She was nearing the 1-mile mark of the race when a male runner just ahead of her was struggling physically and collapsed on the course. Amanda and other fellow runners, like Dr. Capadalupa from CMC Hospital, were the first people to jump into action to deliver early intervention CPR. The medical team on-site from the Bedford Fire Department and CMC Hospital were able to save another life at a race!
For her two heroic performances, Millennium Running is proud to announce Amanda Arneil as our first female Athlete of the Month!
Every month, we recognize and celebrate the achievements of two members of the community. One male and one female athlete, as nominated by their peers, will be chosen to be honored as the Catholic Medical Center Athlete of the Month. We are not just looking at those who consistently finish at the front of the pack but also at those who demonstrate exemplary character and are a positive influence on their community. These qualities include, but are not limited to, dedication, commitment, leadership, and perseverance. If you know of someone who you would like to nominate as athlete of the month, please fill out the form.
