Athlete of the Month: Brian Lavoie October 2012

We at Millennium Running are proud to recognize the great achievements of our local runners each month with the our Athlete of the Month. Nominated by you, their peers. We are excited to bring the spotlight to them, giving them the recognition they deserve. Please fill out the form and nominate someone you believe deserves the honor.

We are very excited about the great response for the Athlete of the Month section here on the new website. Lots of great nominations coming in and we couldn’t be happier to read all of the great words written about your fellow runners.

October’s Athlete of the Month received several nominations and has also offered a nomination of their own. An avid runner and competitive triathlete, Brian Lavoie is Millennium Running’s Athlete of the Month for October 2012.

“Whether he is running a 5k, swimming, biking, or cross country skiing, Brian is a true athlete who takes competing very seriously.” Said nominator Dawn Beers.

You may remember Brian as the runner that broke the tape in the 5K portion of the second annual HASLAW Manchester Mile and 5K with 16:43. After the first turn at the bottom of the starting hill Brian started to pull away and began to build on his lead, never looking back and finishing with a healthy fifty second buffer over second place.

Our athlete of the month honors those that display athletic excellence, inspiration, and dedication,” said Millennium Running’s founder John Mortimer.  “As a husband, father of 4, and corporate executive at Centrix Bank, Brian has managed to find time to train and compete in all of our races this year, while winning or finishing at the top in many of them.”

Brian has completed every race in the MVP Healthcare Millennium Running Series to this point as well as competing in many other events in the region. Included in his long list of finishes are third place at the inaugural St. Joseph Hospital Ribfest 5 Miler, second place in this year’s Bill Kelley Memorial 5K, and most recently another first place finish at the 2012 Wicked Fit Run in Concord, NH.

Please join us in congratulating Brian in the comments below this post, and if you know an athlete that you’d like to nominate for Millennium Running’s Athlete of the Month, make sure you nominate them right now.
