UNOFFICIALLY official or officially unofficial. Any way you put it, there is good news regarding the Millennium Running Women’s team, the New Hampshire-based group that is competing in the 2014 USA Track and Field-New England Grand Prix Road Race Series.
With six of the seven races complete on this year’s schedule, the MR women have built what appears to be an insurmountable lead in the women’s open division.
The Grand Prix Series started in the mid-1980s and it matches New England-based running clubs against each other. No New Hampshire-based club has ever won its division, which means the MR women are on the doorstep of New Hampshire road race history. With the final race in the 2014 season taking place in the Granite State on Nov. 2 at the Anthem Manchester City Marathon, the MR women could be even be crowned champs on their home turf. Actually, the team could skip Manchester City and still win the title.
