William Esslinger
William Esslinger of Manchester, NH has been named the Athlete of the Month for March. At the beginning of 2017, William joined millions of others around the world when he decided to make a change for the new year. His goal was to shed some pounds, so he joined his office weight loss challenge. William began his journey at 320 pounds, destined to become a new man. This is where your typical “New Year, New You” story ends, however, William is not your typical guy…
Over the course of the next 12 months, William dropped over 100 pounds! He ate less, joined a local gym, and was a regular at the office weekly accountability meetings. It wasn’t always easy, but he treated his calories like a budget and soon started to see the difference! As 2018 was on the horizon, William saw the opportunity to take his healthy lifestyle to the next level, so he set a new goal; complete the Elliot Millennium Running Series!
William is now a slimmer man, weighing only 190 pounds. This is not why he is our Athlete of the Month, however. He has earned this honor by using his enthusiasm and newfound fitness to inspire those around him. William has his friends and co-workers running the races with him, and guess what, he’s the fastest in the group! He just finished the Citizens Bank Shamrock Half Marathon Relay and is already signed up for the Members First Credit Union Cinco de Miles 5k. He’s only 15.6 miles away from his jacket, we know he can do it! We are so proud to have you as part of our community, William! We can’t wait to watch you run not only faster, but farther as well! The sky’s the limit!
Every month, we recognize and celebrate the achievements of a member of the community. An athlete, as nominated by their peers, will be chosen to be honored as the Athlete of the Month. We are not just looking at those who consistently finish at the front of the pack, but also those who demonstrate exemplary character and are a positive influence on their community. These qualities include, but are not limited to, dedication, commitment, leadership, and perseverance.
