Citizens Bank Shamrock Races Take To The Streets of Manchester This Weekend

For Immediate Release:

Manchester, NH – With the support of Citizens Bank as the new title sponsor, Millennium Running is expecting over 5,500 runners and spectators in downtown Manchester to kick off the spring running season.

The annual Citizens Bank Shamrock Half Marathon, Relay, and Shuffle is a 13.1 mile multi-loop course in downtown Manchester that will start at 9:00am on Saturday, March 24th. While the annual Citizens Bank Shamrock Shuffle, a 2-mile Irish themed run/walk will start at 11:15am on Sunday March 25th. The Shuffle will precede the annual St. Patrick’s Parade which steps off at noon. The American Red Cross of NH/VT is the official charity of the Half Marathon; Families in Transitions – New Horizons will serve as the official charity of the Shuffle.

“Citizens Bank is proud to be the title sponsor of the Annual Shamrock Half Marathon, Relay, and Shuffle for the first time this year,” said Joe Carelli, President, Citizens Bank, New Hampshire and Vermont. “Not only is this an opportunity to get people to go outside during one of the state’s largest Saint Patrick celebrations, it also  provides a great way to give back to two incredible  community organizations, our friends at the American Red Cross of NH and VT, and Families in Transition New Horizons,” said Carelli.

With a spring snow storm in the forecast, Millennium Running, parade organizers, and city departments are prepared to produce the civic events as scheduled.

“Our team works closely with the City of Manchester municipal departments to ensure a safe and fun event for all participants and spectators,” stated John Mortimer of Millennium Running.   “Jay Davini and his team at Department of Public Works are confident that the city streets will be safe for participants, parade goers, and motorists.”
