20 Miler

From Kittery, Maine to Salisbury, Massachusetts along the spectacular New Hampshire Seacoast. Seven towns, three states – all in one race!

The Eastern States is a great final training run for any spring marathon! The race begins in scenic Kittery, ME, runs through historic Portsmouth, NH, along Route 1A overlooking the Atlantic, to the finish in Salisbury Beach, MA. If you are looking for a flat fast 20 mile run then the Eastern States 20 Mile is your best bet. The race fits nicely into your marathon training schedule.

Wallis Sand State Park (1050 Ocean Blvd, Rye, NH)

The intersection of 1A and Bay State Rd in Salisbury, MA


EARLY BIB PICK-UP:
Available at the Millennium Running Retail Store (138 Bedford Center Road, Bedford, NH) on  Saturday, March 16, 2024  (10:30am-6:00pm)

RACE DAY REGISTRATION & BIB PICK-UP: 
Race Day Bib Pick Up & Registration (if not sold out) for BOTH the 20 Miler and the Half Marathon is at the Runner Parking area located at Salisbury Beach State Reservation (State Reservation Rd, Salisbury, MA 01952) between 8:30am and 9:15am.

There is no bib number pick up at either of the start venues.


PARTICIPANT PARKING:
ALL participant parking is located at Salisbury Beach State Reservation (State Reservation Rd, Salisbury, MA 01952)

There is NO dedicated participant parking, nor spectator parking at the start line(s) or finish line.   Any parking must be in valid municipal parking lots or spaces as marked by the Town of Kittery, Town of Salisbury, MA or Town of Seabrook, NH

SHUTTLE BUSES:
Dedicated shuttle buses will take participants from the Participant Parking at Salisbury Beach State Reservation to the Start of the 20 Miler at Traip Academy in Kittery, ME or the Start of the Half Marathon at Wallis Sands State Park in Rye, NH, respectively.  Buses will run continuously from Finish Line in Salisbury to the Participant Parking at Salisbury Beach State Reservation.

  • All buses to the Start Line(s) will depart Salisbury Beach State Reservation at 9:20AM, sharp.
  • It is approximately a 30 minute drive from Participant Parking and both start venues, respectively.
  • Buses will remain at the respective starting line areas in case of inclement weather
  • Bathrooms are available at Participant Parking and both start venues, and finish line.

RUNNER DROP OFF AT START:
Participant Drop off is permitted at the 20 Miler Start at Traip Academy (20 Williams Ave, Kittery, ME) and the Half Marathon Start at Wallis Sands State Park (1050 Ocean Blvd., Rye, NH)

  • There is NO dedicated parking at the 20 Miler start at Traip Academy.  Any parking must be in valid municipal parking lots or spaces as marked by the Town of Kittery.
  • There is ample drop-off parking at the Half Marathon start at Wallis Sands State Park.

RUNNER PICK UP AT FINISH:
There is NO dedicated parking, nor spectator parking at the finish line   Any parking must be in valid municipal parking lots or spaces as marked by the Town of Salisbury, MA or Town of Seabrook, NH.   Participants may also get picked up by taking the Shuttle Bus back to the Runner Parking area at Salisbury Beach State Reservation.


GEAR CHECK:
Gear check drop off will be available for all participants at both start lines, Traip Academy or Wallis Sands State Park, respectively.   Gear Check pick up can be claimed at the Gear Check tent at the finish line.


MILE MARKERS:
Mile Markers will COUNT DOWN in both the 20 Miler and Half Marathon.  The 20 miler will count down from 19 to 1 and correspond with the last 13 miles (from 13 to 1) in the half marathon.   i.e.  the 1st mile into the 20 miler will be a “Mile 19”  marker indicating 19 miles to go.

AID STATIONS:
Located approximately every 3 miles for both distances, there are 6 Aid Stations in the 20 Miler and 4 in the Half Marathon.

All aid Stations will include water, Gatorade, and port-o-johns/toilets.

Untapped will be available at the mile 15 aid station of the 20 miler /  mile 8 of the half marathon.

Trash (including nutrition packets, cups, etc.) should be disposed of at the trash receptacles at each aid station.

BATHROOMS:
Each aid station (see above for locations) will have a port-o-john. Ample facilities will be provided near the Start & Finish lines.

TIME LIMITS:
20 Milers have a 4.5 hour time limit and Half Marathoners have a 3.5 hour time limit.


RESULTS
Live online results will be published exclusively on MillenniumRunning.com and emailed and texted to those that opt in during registration.

FINISHER MEDALS:  
Medals will be distributed at the finish line to all 20 Milers and Half Marathoners.

AGE-GROUP AWARDS: 
Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female by Net Time in each 5-yr age group. (Half marathon: 12-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34 … 80+) (20 Miler: 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34 … 80+). Overall award winners for the top male and female of both races based off Gun Time will also be recognized. Stop by the Awards Tent following the race to claim your award.


POST RACE REFRESHMENTS:
Dasani water and Powerade are provided by Coca Cola Northern New England and bananas will be available.


RACE PHOTOS
Millennium Running is happy to provide FREE digital race photos from this event. Photos will be posted online 3-4 business days following the event.

Should you wish to transfer to another race distance or to the virtual option, begin HERE by editing your entry. HOW DO I SUBMIT MY RESULTS?
It’s easy! On the week of the event, we will be sending you a unique link via email to your RunReg entry that will allow you to submit your race results. Results must be submitted by 11:59pm on Monday, March 18.


RESULTS
Official Results will be published exclusively on millenniumrunning.com on Tuesday, March 19. You have until 11:59pm on Monday, March 18 to submit your time using the unique link provided in your confirmation email.


What about the Elliot Millennium Series and Delta Dental Points Chase?
Virtual registrants will earn miles towards the Elliot Millennium Series Jacket! However, no points will be assigned for the Delta Dental Points Chase.
