Press Release: Millennium Running Announces 15th and FINAL running of the NH 10 Miler around Lake Massabesic

For Immediate Release

May 13, 2025

Bedford, NH – Millennium Running announced today that the 2025 edition of the famed NH 10 Miler will be the 15th and final running of the popular road race.

Over the last 14 years, over 13,000 runners have enjoyed the picturesque 10-mile loop around the stunning Lake Massabesic as they participated in the NH 10 Miler.  Millennium Running is thankful for the tremendous support they have received from municipal partners, including the Town of Auburn, Manchester Water Works, and the State of NH.

In the December 2024 board meeting, the Manchester Water Works Board of Water Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a permit application for the 15th annual NH 10 Miler scheduled for August 23, 2025.  In the same meeting and with a 4-2 vote by the Board of Water Commissioners, moving forward, a limit of 150 people in attendance for public gatherings/events held within the Watershed was established.  [ minutes ]

The NH 10 Miler course encircles Lake Massabesic on Town (Auburn) and State roadways; however, the event has a common start / finish line in the Lake Massabesic “Front Park”.  The “Front Park” and adjacent parking areas are under the jurisdiction of the Manchester Water Works and their Board of Water Commissioners.

In a join statement on the matter, the Board of Water Commissioners stated, “The City of Manchester Board of Water Commissioners has decided to limit organized events on the Lake Massabesic Watershed to no more than 150 participants.  This is in the interest of protecting the purity of the public water supply and not interrupting the quiet enjoyment of the watershed by the public.”

“With a limit of 150 participants in the future, it is not feasible to produce the NH 10 Miler after this year,”  stated Millennium Running’s owner and race director, John Mortimer.  “However, we are very thankful that we have one last edition of the AutoFair NH 10 Miler in August.”

“The NH 10 Miler has been a great example of our company mission in advocating fitness to the masses and positively contributing to our community with charitable giving.  Collectively over the last 14 years, we’ve seen over 13,000 people finish this challenging road race and generated meaningful funds for our local charities.” Mortimer added.

“We are very grateful for the amazing runners. charities, sponsors, and municipal partners that have supported our mission.  Moreover, I am very proud of the hard working and dedicated team at Millennium that worked so hard to produce a first class event, every year.” Mortimer continued.

History of the NH 10 Miler:  Established in 2011, the NH 10 Miler has generated over $75,000 for local charitable organizations including $17,500 to the event’s official charity, the Manchester Water Works Youth Education Programs which supports the City of Manchester’s 4th grade water science fairs.

The beautiful course known for lake views and challenging hills, has seen some amazing athletic performances over its 14 year history.  The men’s course record of 49 minutes and 45 seconds set by Louis Serafini (Niskayuna, NY) in 2019 and the women’s course record of 56 minutes and 46 seconds set by Jacqueline Gaughan (Exeter, NH) in 2024, are the fastest 10 mile times ever run by a male or female in the State of New Hampshire.  Additionally, there have by been 38 NH State age group records set by NH residents on the course.  The NH 10 Miler has been selected by USA Track & Field New England as the USA Track & Field New England 10 Mile Championship seven (7) times (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023).  USA Track & Field is the governing body for the sport of road racing and track and field.  On two occasions the NH 10 Miler has served as a NH Grand Prix event, which is a competitive series between NH based running clubs.
