Three Generations of Runners!
I started running in high school. My Dad decided he didn’t want me running alone, so he bought a pair of sneakers, and we were off. Thirty plus years later, we are still at it, and are now joined by my 22 year old daughter, Kristina.
At 74 years old, my Dad is still beating me across the finish line too! Kristina’s friends can’t believe how active and healthy he is. Last year, I wanted to celebrate turning 50 by doing a triathlon. Dad met me at the gym every morning at 4:30, lifted weights with me and even got in the pool and did laps (he hates swimming!). I came in 9th and Dad was my biggest fan!
In between training runs, we started doing the Millennium running series. We had more fun running in costumes, people watching, getting fresh air and exercise and munching a well-earned piece of Portland Pie pizza at the finish line. We even got Kristina’s boyfriend, Brian, to join in the fun! And on December 27th, the four of us will be getting our Millennium jackets! |

January 1st, we will be joined by my son, running his first Millennium Mile. He seems to think he is going to beat us. Bring it on, James! Thank you, John Mortimer, for making running so much fun!!
pretty cool!
