PRESS RELEASE: Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation Named Official Charity for Clearwater Running Festival in January 2019

October 28, 2018

Clearwater, FL – With the support of the City of Clearwater, Millennium Running named Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation the official charity partner for Clearwater Running Festival set for January 27, 2019.

The Clearwater Running Festival (www.RunClearwater.com) will draw runners locally, nationally, and internationally to its beautiful, picturesque courses along “America’s #1 Beach in Clearwater, Florida.  Based out of Coachman Park, the event will include a pre-race expo, a marathon, ultra marathon, half marathon, 5 mile, 5k, and marathon & half marathon relays, followed by a post race party with local vendors, refreshments, beer, and live music and entertainment.

As charitable partner, Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation will play an important role with community engagement, volunteerism and will benefit from event proceeds and peer-to-peer fundraising.

“We are very grateful to have been selected by Millennium Running as the beneficiary of the Clearwater Running Festival on January 27, 2019,” stated Ernestine Morgan, President and CEO of Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation. “Proceeds from this great race will provide a myriad of support services to our hospitals’ cancer patients and their loved ones so they may learn about the latest treatment advances, find ways to heal the mind, body and spirit, and gain solace from others who know exactly what it is like to have cancer.”

“We are honored for the opportunity to work together with the City of Clearwater, Clearwater Special Events Department and the Clearwater Police to produce the Clearwater Running Festival,” stated Millennium Running founder, John Mortimer.  “Events become even more significant when we can make a difference with our charitable efforts.  We are thankful to have have Morton Plant Mease on board as our charity partner.”

Race director, John Mortimer and his wife Jennifer founded their family running business, Millennium Running in 2010. During one of their frequent winter trips to Tampa, FL to visit their sister, Stacy Soliman and her family, they realized the potential to produce races together in the Florida winter climate. The merging of business, location, and a family of lifelong runners has brought new excitement and joy to the family.

“Our goal is to turn this into the biggest marathon on the Gulf coast of Florida in the coming years and continue to showcase the beauty of Clearwater Beach to both locals and tourists,” stated Stacy Soliman.  “We are even more excited to give back to the Tampa Bay and greater Clearwater community with Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation as our charitable partner.”
